Crash Investigation

TransCon CSI specializes in forensic crash investigation and reconstruction of traffic collisions. With over 30 years experience, TransCon CSI provides support with forensic investigation, research, reconstruction, cause analysis, simulation and animation of all types of transportation collisions.

Crash Analysis

TransCon CSI analyzes your case file cTransCon CSI analyzes your case file concerning the key issues of the case, i.e., speed, time/distance analysis of the vehicles involved in the accident. The analysis usually involves police reports, witness statements, and photographs, site analysis and gathering evidence for further testing.

Collision Reconstruction

TransCon CSI has extensive experience in high and low-speed collisions, pedestrian accidents, commercial truck incidents, motorcycle collisions, passenger vehicle impacts, passenger vehicle rollovers, pedestrian bicycle impacts, and much more. A complete reconstruction will illuminate the facts and bring the truth to the forefront, whether it be a speeding violation, a line-of-sight complaint, a time-distance concern, or many other issues.

Expert Witness Testimony

TransCon CSI provides expert witness testimony concerning motor vehicle collisions for litigation.  We provide expert witness testimony for litigation purposes on issues related to collision analysis, accident avoidance, vehicle dynamics, speed analysis, time-distance studies, point of impact location, examination of vehicle systems, specific components and driver identification.

3D Animations

3D animations give the jury the ability to view the accident from several positions. They can see what the drivers saw; and what the witnesses could see or could not see. Our 3D laser technology obtains a very accurate level of detail in our collision reconstructions. 3D animations are based on the data collected from the evidence gathered. Our animations are used to provide a visual aid to support our experts’ reconstruction conclusions. Our expert reports will include details such as weather and lighting conditions, road surface information, statements from witnesses, any evidence gathered at the scene, alongside photographs and diagrams. All of this information is then analyzed by our collision experts to determine calculations of speed and distances traveled. Using TransCon’s latest technology, our experts can visually represent their conclusions as to the dynamics and causation of each crash.

Forensic Mapping & Diagramming

TransCon CSI uses electronic total station technology to obtain and preserve critical three-dimensional measurements at crash scenes. This equipment is also used to TransCon CSI uses 3D Laser Scanning and UAV technology to obtain and preserve critical three-dimensional measurements at crash scenes. This equipment is also used to document vehicle damage and preserve other evidence. This technology, combined with the latest computer-aided drawing software, affords the accuracy and flexibility required to produce dynamic exhibits and stunning computer animations. The forensic mapping process assists the reconstruction process and evaluates issues such as sight distance, roadway profiles, obstructed visibility, and time-distance study. The information collected during the forensic mapping process is used as the foundation for speed analysis and computer simulation.

Crash Data Retrieval System (CDR)

TransCon CSI has the ability to download pre-and post-crash data from the vehicle’s airbag module to a laptop computer. This method is TransCon CSI has the ability to download pre-and post-crash data from the vehicle’s airbag control module. This method is used in conjunction with traditional methods to determine impact speed. Vehicles often contain an Event Data Recorder (EDR). EDRs is often referred to as a “black box” for passenger vehicles, these often contain critical information to support the expert(s) opinion in determining the cause of the crash.

Litigation Support

TransCon CSI provides knowledgeable and professional expert testimony and support in the areas of collision reconstruction, vehicle handling and stability, and other related topics. We combine engineering knowledge and analysis with over 75 combined years of work experience in law enforcement agencies.

3D Laser Scanning

TransCon CSI personnel have the experience, technology, and training to create detailed three-dimensional diagrams, models, exhibits, and physics-based animations for use in the courtroom as well as outside of it to aid in the understanding of the complex dynamics of a crash. We utilize TransCon CSI personnel who have the experience, technology, and training to create detailed three-dimensional diagrams, models, exhibits, and physics-based animations for use in litigation to aid in the understanding of the complex dynamics of the crash. We utilize advanced measuring procedures through the use of 3D Laser Scanning and UAS equipment to capture the roadway environment, crash scene evidence, damaged and undamaged vehicle geometry. This data can then be used in combination with sophisticated computer software programs to create detailed computer images as well as 3D diagrams and animations.

Work Zone Safety & Compliance

Highway construction work exposes workers to hazards not always found on other construction sites. There are public traffic hazards, trenching and shoring, heavy equipment, and a variety of other hazards. TransCon CSI’s experts are certified in work zone safety, Temporary Traffic Control Management (TTCM), and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

UAV/UAS (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/Unmanned Aerial System)

TransCon CSI uses UAV technology to better archive collision sites, vehicle configuration(s), and witness perspectives. We use multiple DJI UAVs to capture evidentiary data points of interest. A point cloud of measurable data is then generated using Pix4D software then exported into CAD/Animation software to create diagrams/animations that can be used as demonstrative evidence to support our expert(s) conclusions concerning the dynamics of each crash.
